Welcome to ShootingStar!
Bring your Minecraft skies to life! ShootingStar is a Spigot/Paper plugin that allows you to create highly customizable shooting stars, meteors, or any other falling item phenomenon you can imagine. Make your server nights more magical, create unique server events, or add interesting mechanics with items raining from the sky!
Key features include defining multiple unique star types in the stars.yml file, customizing item appearance like material, name, and lore with color codes, configuring particle trails and falling sounds, and setting detailed impact behavior such as real or fake explosions, entity damage, block damage control with WorldGuard integration, and item persistence choices. You can also control automatic spawning based on world, time, probability, altitude, and sky conditions, or trigger stars manually using commands like /sh spawn and /sh starfall. All configurations can be reloaded live using /sh reload. Global settings are managed in config.yml.
Installation
First, ensure your server meets the requirements: Paper, Spigot, or a compatible fork (1.20.x recommended) running Java 17 or higher. Second, download the latest ShootingStar JAR file from, (PaperMC), or the page. Third, place this JAR file into your server's plugins folder. Fourth, if you plan to use the explosion protection integration, make sure the optional dependency WorldGuard (and its dependency WorldEdit) is also present in the plugins folder. Fifth, start or restart your server. The plugin will create a /plugins/ShootingStar/ folder containing the default config.yml and stars.yml files. Sixth, you can edit these files to customize settings and star definitions. Seventh, use the /sh reload command to apply any configuration changes without needing a full server restart.
